Manufacture and assembly of modular and reusable batteries in electric vehicles for light and green mobility

One of the main goals of the MARBEL project is designing, manufacturing and validating the next generation of electric batteries for the mass market automotive industry.

It is to develop an innovative and competitive lightweight battery with higher energy density and shorter charging times to fast-track mass market uptake of electric vehicles.

The project’s innovation is thus based on the following main pillars:

  • Advanced battery packaging using a design for assembly (DfA) and disassembly (DfD) methodology
  • Lightweight and sustainable battery packaging
  • Sustainable dismantling and second life solutions and processes
  • Advanced and flexible battery management systems
  • Ultra-fast charging and improved thermal management strategies
  • Future performance and safety related characterisation and validation procedures

The MARBEL project brings design, manufacturing and validation of the next generation of electric batteries for the mass market automotive industry.
