Manufacturing batteries based on silicon, sulphur and bio-mass carbon compatible with the circular economy
By developing innovative batteries and associated recycling strategies to enable circular and minimised use of critical raw materials, the 2Boss project is seeking to make commercial batteries compatible with the circular economy, overcoming the limitations of current lithium-ion batteries and ensuring sustainable production.
2BoSS helps towards the transition to a carbon neutral economy in the following ways:
- Ensuring the availability of raw materials for battery manufacturing
- Developing and integrating effective strategies for recycling their components.
- Increasing battery energy capacity, density and durability.
- Reducing reliance on CRMs and the presence of dispersed and intermixed metals.
- Designing cobalt-free cathodes and graphite-free anodes.
- Optimising environmental and social impact and contributing to a more circular economy.
