Understanding and controlling the interfaces of a battery class based on lithium-sodium-ion active materials

Batteries known as lithium-sodium-ion (Li-Na) batteries have attracted growing interest due to their potential to deliver a viable and promising alternative to conventional battery technologies. Hence the INFLUENCE project is investigating progress in the understanding and control of interfaces in a class of batteries based on lithium and sodium ion active materials with the following objectives:

  • Optimising the interfaces that develop between the electrolyte and the electrochemically active material particles in the fluid electrodes
  • Understanding and controlling the mechanical and conductive behaviours of slurries
